How Are Tech Giants Becoming More Environmentally Friendly?

Amazon, Apple, and Google are perhaps some of the most influential companies in the world. Startups want to be them and other companies are folding under their success. Now they are giving others even more reason to become like them as they are exploring with various ways to become more environmentally friendly.

Amazon

With the rapid expansion of the online retail sector, Amazon has been creating order fulfillment facilities around the globe to meet the demand. While in years prior Amazon didn't implement any environmental initiatives, as of 2020 they anticipate having 50 of its order fulfillment facilities equipped with solar systems.

Apple

According to Apple CEO Tim Cook, the Apple Park Headquarters will be the "greenest building on the planet." While the claim has yet to be substantiated, the building will feature numerous green initiatives such as: the buildings ability to run on 100 percent renewable energy, the numerous solar panels that produce 17 watts of power, and the approximately 7,000 trees that will be surrounding the campus.

Google

The proposed plan for the new Google headquarters is definitely centric around green initiatives. The building will feature outdoor green spaces, a linearly connected canvas of trees (presumably to replace the planned removal of the 160 trees to build the headquarters), and a tent-like canopy that helps regulate indoor climate, air quality, and sound.
