All Aboard Apple's Spaceship

All Aboard Apple's Spaceship

It has been nearly a year since Apple announced at their 2016 product launch event that future 2017 product launches would take place at their new headquarters located in Cupertino, California. While the building is still under construction, new aerial footage and detailed floor plans have been released and have us all wishing to board the "mothership."

Since the announcement of the new HQ in 2011, the building has gained a variety of informal nicknames such as the "infinite loop" the "doughnut", the "ring" or the most popular, the "Spaceship".  To Apple, it's called Campus 2 and despite the other nicknames accurately describing the appearance, Apple's name is more aligned with the structure of the building being laid out similarly to a university with the building surrounding a green space.

In recently released drone footage by Matthew Roberts,  used a drone to capture the exclusive footage of the building shown above. In the video above you can see how the solar panels that will be predominately used to provide power to the office, are about 70% completed.

While the video shows scarce landscaping, Apple has released that they plan to have approximately 2,000 trees planted around the campus as well as plant species that blossom at different times of year. Some of the flora and fauna they are currently looking at consist of apple trees, cherry blossoms, plum trees, and others like the ones shown in the image above.

All 12,000 employees will be housed in the circular office and have access to a gym, 90,00 sq. ft. cafeteria, an auditorium that can seat 1000 people and multiple cafes and lobbies surrounding the open offices available for a change in the work environment.
