Project Highlight: Bad Vilbel
Location: Bad Vilbel, Germany
The history of town of Bad Vilbel goes way back in history. During the Roman times the area's mineral waters were already know, and well preserved remains of a Roman bath and other artifacts from that era are on display in the town.
But "What would a German town be without a castle?" Well, Bad Vilbel has a castle and its history dates back to the XII century. We know that it was destroyed and rebuilt numerous times. Since its renovation in the 1980s, Castle Vilbel serves an important role in the town's cultural life. It provides a scenic backdrop to numerous festivals, and within its courtyard an outdoor theatre is the scene of concerts and plays from May to September.
The courtyard holds over 700 people who has to be protected from the sunshine and heat of the summer as well as the sometimes violent summer storms. Uhlmann Sonnenschirme e.k. was selected from ten competing firms to cover the courtyard with its stylish StrongWind umbrellas that are proven to stand up any challenge from the weather.
